Few researchers ever get the opportunity to learn about the editorial process from the inside &#8211; now it is your chance to peek behind the curtain.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>European Radiology<\/em> Private Foundation announces the Albert L. Baert Editorial Fellowship for 2027.<\/p>\n<p>This prestigious editorial fellowship hosted by the Chief Editor of the ESR Journals and Editor-in-Chief of <em>European Radiology<\/em>, Prof. Bernd Hamm, is designed to mentor promising candidates for future editorial leadership roles and offers a unique opportunity to gain insight into the editorial work of the journal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Details<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The fellowship will consist of an onsite introductory meeting with the Editor-in-Chief hosted at his office in Berlin, followed by a remote training programme under the supervision of a designated Deputy Editor of the journal.<\/p>\n<p>During the onsite stay, the fellows will receive basic personal training and a behind-the-scenes look at the editorial practice. Through hands-on activities, the following areas will be covered:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Aims and scope of <em>European Radiology<\/em><\/li>\n<li>How to evaluate a manuscript (new\/revised\/resubmitted manuscripts)<\/li>\n<li>Different roles of authors, reviewers, and editors<\/li>\n<li>Managing peer review<\/li>\n<li>Making decisions<\/li>\n<li>Publication ethics<\/li>\n<li>Reporting guidelines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Upon completion of the onsite training, the fellows will continue working remotely under the mentorship of our experienced Deputy Editors, being actively involved in all stages of a manuscript&#8217;s journey transforming research into publication.<\/p>\n<p>From among all applicants, two fellows will be selected and awarded \u20ac2,250 to cover expenses. In addition, they will receive free registration to ECR 2027, and an invitation to join the ESR Journals Editorial Board Meeting.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Candidates must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be under the age of 40<\/li>\n<li>Be a certified radiologist or senior resident with achievements commensurate with the years of professional experience<\/li>\n<li>Be an active member of the European Society of Radiology<\/li>\n<li>Provide evidence of research and clinical activity in the field of Radiology by listing first author publications (min. 5 PubMed-indexed articles)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Application<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applications must include the following documents as PDF files:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Completed questionnaire (<a href=\"https:\/\/journals.myesr.org\/eur-radiol\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2026\/09\/Albert-L.-Baert-Fellowship-2027_Application-Questionnaire_final.docx\">Albert-L.-Baert-Fellowship-2027_Application-Questionnaire_final)<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Curriculum vitae<\/li>\n<li>Motivation letter<\/li>\n<li>Reference letter from a referee who is an active ESR member<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applicants must send all their documents together via email to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:fellowships@journals.myesr.org\">fellowships@journals.myesr.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The deadline for applications is <strong>6 November 2026<\/strong>.
