{"id":8,"date":"2016-11-22T14:31:26","date_gmt":"2016-11-22T14:31:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/journals.myesr.org\/eur-radiol-exp\/2016\/11\/22\/meet-the-editor\/"},"modified":"2025-10-22T12:57:09","modified_gmt":"2025-10-22T11:57:09","slug":"meet-the-editor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/journals.myesr.org\/eur-radiol-exp\/news\/meet-the-editor\/","title":{"rendered":"Meet the Editor &#8211; Francesco Sardanelli"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>We spoke to Prof. Francesco Sardanelli on what the future holds for our new journal, European Radiology Experimental<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-275 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/journals.myesr.org\/eur-radiol-exp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2025\/10\/FS.jpg\" alt=\"FS\" width=\"175\" height=\"215\" \/><em><strong>ER-x: You were appointed first Editor-in-Chief of the ESR\u2019s newest journal European Radiology Experimental \u2013 what are your hopes and plans for the journal?<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nFS: It is my hope that the new journal will play a pivotal role in promoting innovation, a multifactorial process, and introducing new imaging modalities and techniques for individual risk stratification, diagnosis, prognosis and image-guided therapy (interventional).<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>ER-x: How did you decide on your editorial board?<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nFS: Our goal is to also include non-radiologists in our journal editorial board: physicists, bioengineers, biologists, chemists, information technology experts, as well as pathologists and colleagues from other medical specialties, or any other professionals with an interest in innovation in radiology.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>ER-x: Do you have any advice for aspiring authors who would like to submit to European Radiology Experimental?<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nFS: First, authors should verify that their manuscript corresponds with the Aims and Scope of the journal. Second, the instructions for authors should be read carefully and all requirements should be fulfilled. Third, authors should make sure that their manuscript has an intrinsic value.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>ER-x: The Impact Factor is still considered an important measure for a journal\u2019s success; do you think the initial lack thereof can be compensated by other things for authors wanting to submit to European Radiology Experimental?<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\nFS: The Impact Factor is an important measure for a journal\u2019s success, but it is no longer considered the only measure for an author\u2019s or article\u2019s success. Other metrics such as the number of quotations and the h-index are increasingly considered.
